Hi all, new to the forum and new to Fords as well, so I appreciate any insight. I’m looking to purchase a gen 1, and I noticed the mileage rating for the 2011 is 11 mpg city and 14 hwy compared to the 2012+ rating at 11 mpg city and 16 hwy. I know the topic of gas mileage has been beaten to a pulp here. Sorry if the question has already been answered, but I couldn’t find anything on why the mpg rating changed from year to year. Did anything actually change with the vehicle that would affect mileage, or did the EPA just update its rating?

Also, I know it went from an open front diff to a Torsen LSD from 2011 to 2012. If I buy a 2011, is it just the $750 torsen diff that would need to be swapped, or are there other parts that would need replacing? Thanks!

I have a 2011. I get 11.5 mpg around town. On the highway I get 16 mpg at 70 mph, 15 mpg at 80 mph. Hope this helps. Can't answer your other question but I can tell you that my 2011 has gotten me out of everywhere I've been without any problem and has pulled my boat out (5,000 lbs with trailer) with a muddy, soft bottom and now boat ramp up a fairly steep bank. :):)

So on my 2010 SCAB which has over 198k on it, I average ~13.5 around town with A/C without A/C ~14.5. On my 2014 SCREW with ~40k I average 13.5 around town without A/C.

Had a 2010 5.4L SuperCab... it got 16mpg solid. Currently have a 2011 6.2L SuperCrew and it gets 15mpg solid in the past 9 years of owning it. Not sure on the Torsen LSD and other parts. Make sure you use the right gasoline... leave the 87 to the "car" drivers :ROFLMAO::cool:
