So I bought an AirRaid CAI for the Raptor. Normally I always buy K&N (no real reason why), but I got the Air Raid brand new plus shipping for $210 on Amazon... I will say, installation was super easy and simple... Probably the easiest and strongest unit I have ever installed in a vehicle. I've installed on all my trucks, my old Charger SRT8, and my current M3... It bolts on strong and looks good. On all the other installations I have done, something just didnt fit right, was loose, or something was a pain.... This one was awesome...

Looks good! This was my first choice but, 5 Star came out with their Labor Day sale combo AFE + X3 tune so I went with that. So far, so go.......I do prefer the AirRaid because it retains the stock plenum. Not that it makes any difference, I'm not sure, just looks a littel better IMHO...Good luck and let us know how you like it.

I have the Airaid on my truck and I feel its a good system as stock, but i have modified my unit and it required special tuning , in turn I,m happy with the over all results . I know all of you don't or can't or will not due the extra work for the gain , so if your one of those I highly recommend the AFE stage two 1. fit is excellent 2. easy to tune and 3. affordable.. I can't forget its quiet !!!!

Good to know. How's the motor sound now?
Engine is def a lot louder now. You hear a little roar around 2000 rpm stating from a stop but really roars when u floor it...... Very happy with it so far... Next ill get the tuner....

what is this extra work that you've done to the CAI and what are the advantages? Just curious as to see if i'm up for the task since i have an airaid coming in

I was never too keen on the plenum, it seemed like a lot of restriction. I went with the AFC stage 3 and it's been great for me. I hope you are as happy with yours as I am with mine.

Looks good. Any fears of water gettin in there though
That's the reason I haven't gotten one yet - fear of water getting sucked in. Not from off-roading but from hitting huge puddles or "streams" going across roads. Here in FL we have some major, torrential rainfalls a lot. I've hit some major puddles and/or streams going across roads at speed and with the way our trucks make the water come up and over the hood it worries me that an open air filter would be hit by some of that.

I'd really like to find a nice one that was enclosed in its own sealed box and still used the factory path out the fender. Not only for water protection but to keep any unneeded heat from the engine out as well. I guess mainly for the water since the nice ones already use a foam seal that goes against the hood when it's closed.

I had a very sweet CAI from Roto-fab when I had my G8 GT - I sure wish they made something for the Raptor. They only make them for a very limited amount of vehicles. Very high quality and fit like a glove ... but it wasn't cheap.

I also really like the one from Hennessy but the "open" filter design of it has also made me hesitate.
