So i took my truck into Ford to get my oil change and to have them check up on the issue I've been having with the truck rocking side to side when hitting bumps. They told me i need to replace all my shocks and sway bar bushings. they want close to $4800 to do all the work. Im over in Germany(truck is state side) for some training till end of Feb and don't have a lot of time to research the issues and solutions so I'm asking the pros, you all, what to do? I have 2010 with 108k miles on it. My question is are these Fox shocks designed to go bad at the same time? and what would someone you recommend doing?

Having Ford get new parts and do the work?

    Buy take off Fox shocks?

    Upgrades and to what?

    Matt

Matt- Wait until your stateside. Leave the truck alone. Have the sway bar bushings replaced, then see how it drives. Call Fox Shocks when your home. Many different options for you.You might not need new ones. I believe yours are rebuildable too. If you decide to go new I would upgrade to the bad ass new Fox shocks. They are 10x better and only a few hundred dollars more than stock replacement shocks. Look at the King Shocks too. SCREW THE DEALERSHIPS! They are only looking out for the bottom line $$$$$$$$. Research your options, as any new shocks that are decent will set you back about $ 6000.00. I know o uch. Your smart to ask as they are not cheep. Look at Fox Racing 3.0 and the King shocks 3.0. I have two trucks. F 150 Trophy Truck with King Tripple by pass. My Raptor has Fox 3.0. They both work exceptionally well. Please look out for e-bay scams and or craigslist thieves as take offs are questionable. Good Luck- David

Thanks for all the help guys. I have my buddy state side looking into rebuilding, he has his own shop and works on lift kits for trucks. I think that if I have to buy a new set ill most likely upgrade. Ill look into the new Fox 3.0s. ill also get some new sway bar bushings and get them on and see how the truck drives first.
Without really ripping out parts how can i find out of the shocks are bad or need rebuilding?

Hygear Suspension rebuilds them. I had them do mine at 100k miles.

ALL shocks need rebuild in the 40 - 80k range - fortunately ours are rebuildable, def no reason to replace - unless yours are so trashed that the shafts and cases are unusable. Or unless you just want something bigger :)

I have gone with aftermarket bushings before. Usually rock hard polyurethane. They always suck. Call Ford Parts and put the stock ones back in. Your truck is a real SVT. They know best. Better for on and off road driving.
