Engine Code P0234 Engine Overboost

    Has anyone else pull up an engine light with P0234 code? It’s an Engine Overboost Code.

    Engine light came on when I was giving it mid throttle merging onto the freeway. Shifted up and down kinda weird, engine light came on and then lost power. Had to buy a new PCM and have it programmed because of the Recalibrated PCM. I would think if it was going to throw an Overboost Code I would have to be full throttle.

    Truck still at Dealership but haven’t heard from they since I took the keys new pcm to them. Don’t want to push them for answers with this being a gray area for warranty.

    Mods; Whipple Charger Recalibrated PCM, S&D Cold Air intake, Spd turbo spacers and Borla SType cat back.

    I did top it out once and hit 136. Maybe a couple more mph left. Ran out of room but still pulling a little and had boost and rpm left in 7th.

    I've had mine at 135 mph now but ran out of nerve thinking about those four BFG tires.

    My standard long range cruise speed is 110 mph and I feel safe with it.

    I agree completely! I won’t do it again. I didn’t realize the top speed limiter with the Whipple Charger PCM was gone and once I passed 107 I wanted to see what it would do.


    Don’t think those tires would hold up to that speed on a regular bases. That’s a lots of rubber on the treads!

    I read on the BFG website that the rated "top" speed for those tires is 80 mph., so I've always got that in mind when over 100 mph. Two weeks ago I did a turn around in a sandy field and heard a pop then the tire pressure warning app came up on the screen. Hopped out to see my right front tire flat with a five inch long flap of rubber cut from the sidewall. Followed my tracks to find a fucking wine bottle that I had run over and crushed! So much for a three hundred and twenty dollar, tire not to mention two hours of work messing with the beadlock. So much for the "enhanced side wall protection" on those tires. I've NEVER had a tire failure due to broken glass in my life.

    Just wait till you try to jack up your truck with the factory scissor jack! That was a good hours worth of work in the middle of the night. Then try packing the jack and rods back up and stowed as it was from the factory. Next day I bought two hydraulic bottle jacks, a High Lift sand pad and two oak 4x4's.

    O’man that sucks! Idiots that just throw crap like that out should be shot.

    I had to plug one of my tires once but I have a floor jack. It was a bitch getting the tire back on! Trying to lift the heavy ass tire and line up the bolt holes was a challenge. I’ve never had that much trouble before. Going to tire shop next time.

    Just happened to me today. I️ have an appt on the 22nd truck would not shift pass 3rd gear and a yellow box with a wrench showed up and said see owner manual.

    That’s exactly what happened on mine.

    What Performance parts do you have on it?

    Good news is it can be corrected.

    I don’t think my issue was caused by Performance Mods because I wasn’t anywhere near full throttle when all the lights starting coming on but Ford would not touch my truck with the Recalibrated PCM. I purchased a new one and had them program and install it. It did clear the code and my truck runs fine now.

    I’m curious to see what they say about your truck with it being stock. I think it’s a sensor or turbo waste gate sticking because the turbo boost would have to be over the factory 18psi to throw the code and I wasn’t anywhere near that when it went off. Keep me posted please.
