I'm planning on getting a 6.2 Raptor when they come out, and I've been concerned about the width of the Raptor as well. I've gone four wheeling for decades in Jeeps, and even done some wheeling with trucks. One of my previous trucks was a tow rig used to tow a fifth wheel trailer, and it was a GMC Sierra crew cab dually. That truck was all but impossible to go anywhere off road because of those wide dually fenders. Roads that you had always traveled without a second thought in any other vehicle were all of a sudden scratching up the fenders of your truck. And the Raptor is only something like 1/2" narrower than a dually pickup truck, so it makes you wonder if it is going to be able to go anywhere at all.

I'm thinking that the saving grace for the Raptor is that only the fender flare areas are extra wide, and that the front and back end and the cab are essentially normal width. It might be possible to navigate just the wide fenders past the tighter spots. I also think you're going to have to just avoid the Jeep trails with a Raptor, unless you don't care what the paint looks like. Kind of a shame to spend nearly $50K on a truck just to tear it up though.

I'm still planning on getting the Raptor, but it is costing me more money building my other truck. We currently have a GMC Canyon crew cab 4x4 that has a 4" Rancho lift and 33" tires. Next week it is going to have 4.10 gears and lockers installed at both ends. So I'm building the Canyon to be able to go the places the Raptor wont fit. Thats how I'm solving the problem, and there is still plenty of wide open desert nearby where I can use the Raptor, and the Raptor will make a great daily driver.
