Cool beans five! As you know I'm in. Sounds like there are 6 for sure going and 3 other maybes. Here are some details.

So the wife wants to take a mini vaca to Folsom which is great news for me because I can get my dirt fix! There is something about getting the raptor on the dirt that makes me get a high. I'll be at Prairie City around 9am and leave give or take around 2pm depending on how the course is and if anyone else shows up. There are BBQ grills there so I plan to have lunch there. The 5-6 times I have been there it is raptor friendly. You just need to pre-run your lines so you know where you can get speed. This is a great spot for beginners to test out their trucks. It's wide open and you can see what is coming. When the wife got sick of riding in the truck I was able to drop her off in the grandstand and she could read her book and still watch me.

There is two other events going on at the park if your family comes with you and wants something else to look at (June 1-2 Kart Track - All-Star Karting * and Quarter Midget Track - AQMA Race 2 & 3 Home - American Quarter Midget Association.

"Prairie City is situated at the base of the Sierra Nevada foothills, 20 miles east of downtown Sacramento and three miles south of U.S. 50. The area offers off-highway vehicle enthusiasts a variety of interesting terrain and trails for motorcycles, all-terrain vehicles, and 4-wheel drive vehicles. There are flat, open grasslands, rolling hills with native blue oak trees, and acres of cobbled mine tailings left after gold dredges combed ancient river beds in search of gold during the late 1800s. Beginners as well as experts find the variety of terrain both challenging and enjoyable.

The 4 x 4 area is open to 4 x 4's, buggies, Pilots, and Odysseys. For safety reasons, motorcycles and ATVs are not permitted to use this area. The 4 x 4 area is a haven for 4-wheel drive enthusiasts that love our mud. We have a very heavy clay that is extremely challenging for our mud enthusiasts. Just remember, if you get stuck, you are responsible for getting yourself out.

In addition, we have constructed obstacles in the 4-wheel drive obstacle course. We now have the Stairsteps, Frametwister, Mini-Rubicon, Mud Pit, Gravel Pit, and Dry River Bed. The obstacles range from very easy to extremely difficult. Be careful, as it is very easy to damage your vehicle.

The staging area is set up for both parking and picnicking. There are shaded picnic sites spaced throughout the area. Restrooms, drinking water, barbecue grills, and fire pits (bring your own wood) are available."

Here is the web site for the park; http://ohv.parks.ca.gov/?page_id=1221

I will be in the Southern part of your state that time frame or I would have joined you guys.
Question. Do I need to purchase a OHV decal for my truck?

Hopefully things work out so I can make it. If I can go, wouldn't mind meeting up with others to caravan

If the truck is registered and street legal, no decal is required.

For those who may notice, there is a prescribed burn notice on the Prairie City park site. I spoke to the CalFire contact and a state parks contact.

This should not impact us. But......

The burn is scheduled May 28-31. If the weather and workload cooperate, they expect to be done on the 30th. But they are warning that it may extend into June.

The area being burned is the grassland immediately north of the 4x4 area.

If your sensitive to this sort of thing, come prepared; inhaler, mask what ever. I will.

Great heads up cups! Did they say they would do burns on the weekend?
Defiantly maybe probably not but could.

They hope to be done on Thurs. But weather or workload on other fires may extend it. They would not say they wouldn't burn on the weekend. But did say if they did, they would keep a list of sensative people in the park to notify if winds changed

everyone, there is going to be road construction on prairie city road so now you have to get off at sunrise blvd. and come across at either white rock rd. or douglas rd. and up grant line rd. to prairie city SVRA, I'm recommending going down to douglas and back up grant line because it sounds like white rock may also be having construction on it
