The Lake Tahoe area had over five feet of snow the week of Christmas. The day after Christmas I was able to get out before the plows cleared the secondary roads and had a little fun in the snow. What a blast!
Along the way I came across a twenty-something gal stuck in her VW (Jetta?) up to or above her axles. She'd been there an hour trying to use her floor mats for traction. Good idea in a pinch, but this was really deep snow. Well, I was pretty excited to break out the recovery gear I'd brought with me, so I offered to pull her out. As I'm digging under her car to check for a tow hook, I look at her "all season" tires that didn't have a lot of tread life left and say, "hey, you don't even have chains on. You aren't going to get far." Her reply... "but I have all-wheel drive!". She was dead serious. I laughed inside and shook my head. I hooked up the tow strap and pulled her out of her immediate fix. She went another hundred feet and got stuck again. I decided to tow her the half mile to the main road which had been plowed and she was on her way.
The stock BFGs didn't let me down. They performed great.
