Newbie to the forum here...just wanted to say G*D BLESS THE GRATEFUL DEAD! started seeing shows in 1985 and was able to hit over a hundred of them before 1995. had a 2014 V8 6.2L Raptor and just got my 2017 Raptor a month ago...so far I love it- sounds much different than my old V8 but the performance is MUCH better than the older Gen1...will put some performance upgrades in it after about 6 months of playing around so I can get a feel for how long this one will last and how I like it after the honeymoon period is over.

Well, looks like all you nay sayers are easily proven "WRONG!" The Gen 2 Raptor is far beyond what the Gen 1 ship anchor can ever be no matter what you do with it. Don't get me wrong, I am a huge V8 fan! I not only own the Gen 2 Raptor, I have a 2003 Lightning in the garage as well. However, those of you who said the Gen 2 would never sale are extremely ignorant or just crybabies as a result of your Gen 1 being blown out of the water by the Gen 2! You keep your ship anchor and I will smoke you in every way no matter what you do to your Gen 1. I love this truck, best truck on the road hands down. The Gen 1 needs a shit ton of mods to even come close but this eco-boost only needs a couple extremely simple bolt-ons and it will be out of reach for the Gen 1 and still get far better gas mileage. As far as Gen 2 sales are concerned, there is a waiting list to get on the waiting list to order one. I am going to buy another one in 2021: by then I bet you will be tired of your ship anchor!

Best truck ever! Then use the sport mode and rain mode. The truck gets even better. Love this truck! I can't imagine driving or owning any other Rig.

Dude you sound like a tool. Saying ignorant statements about gen 1 being an anchor or there is nothing that can be done to compete with gen 2 is rediculous.

They are both amazing trucks regardless if the gen 2 has more options. Thats fairly normal for a new model in anything.

I will make sure to buy the 2090 model
So it will make ur 2050 model feel like an anchor also.

Let me clarify my statement! It was in reference to all the discussion about how the gen 2 was a crap vehicle because it has a v6. It was not my intention to insult anyone! I wanted a gen 1 but, I could not get past the sluggish transmission on the test drive! It was just too slow and weak on the shift. In short, it failed to meet the standards my lightning set! However, I am pleased to say the gen 2 excels in that area and its weight is much less! The boat anchor is the monster v8 that fell short of research money as it is capable of so much more but, at a "HUGE" cost! For me, these 3 issues (weight, transmission and engine) makes the gen 1 very inferior to my taste and expectations! Forget all the extra gadgets/options as they are just bonus fodder, what truly matters to me is performance! Weight to horsepower ratio: the gen 2 will decimate the gen 1 all day any day! Facts are facts, I offer no apologies as facts are not within the scope of my control!

I am all about high performance, anything less is unacceptable... plainly stated, the gen 1 failed to meet my standards in every way (fact)!

A simple tune changes the sluggish tranny, shifting and power delivery. The facts are for less than $700 the power is the same if not greater than the gen 2.

To each there own, I think the v6 sounds absolutely stupid in comparison to the v8, but thats just my standard on muscle sound. Obviously if the newer models stay v6 then id most likely end up with one at some point but id bet a v8 goes back.

Let's all hope for that new Canadian engine for the 2019 Model Year ,The article said it was a 7.0 liter.
That's a big ass motor . If math correct 417 ci or 420 i'm not sure , But headers would sound freakin' awesome on that Bad Boy ............................

If memory serves it's replacing the Triton 6.8L V-10

If history repeats itself as it always does, there should be a price tag hike of $ 10,000. The Question will be will they change the look and create Gen 3. Or will they leave the looks the same only changing the engine making it a Gen 2.5 Lol.

I like the sound of the v8 and the v6... stop comparing apples to oranges. Anyone who knows anything about motors know that both engines have their own distinct sound! Everyone also knows that there is no substitute for cubic inches. When I talk about power and capability I am talking about bone-stock configuration! The better the power and capability out the gate the less you have to do with it to get it to your standards. Gen 2 is amazing right out the gate, Gen1 was a 100% disappointment for me right out the gate! Since I don't buy substandard vehicles, I did not buy the Gen1! This is my opinion and last I checked I am certainly entitled to it regardless of what yours is! The only things I did to my Raptor was a LineX blue spray in bed liner and a catch can! That's all it needed! That's amazing to me! What's not amazing and totally unacceptable to me is having to get a tune on a new truck that voids my warranty just to get the "frozen oil" responding tranny to work in accordance with my standards! I love V8s but honestly, there are just way too many pluses for me on this V6 Raptor that make me love it more then the V8!

By the way, its been my experience with SVT or now Ford Performance that tells me there will be no big engine swap. All will stay the same because in the world of business finance, its not feasible to make major changes on a short run project because you lose money that way. The NPV (Net Present Value) will change as costs increase. If costs increase too much then the value of the product for the business is diminished and may eventually result in a loss. Therefore, I highly doubt a different engine is in the plans for the Gen2, no matter how hard you all bash the V6. The growing waiting lists to get a Gen2 at dealers are proof that the V6 has been well taken by enthusiasts.

    Have a great day everyone!

First off, most of ur comments are yet again rediculous.

Second, educate urself, a tune doesnt void your warranty. Anytime there is a warranty issue, Ford would have to proof the tune was the cause. Ive had my mustang w race tunes loaded and taken to dealer under warranty and they did the work.

Until nxt time, enjoy the sound of your honda accord.

    Adding more..

There is a substitute for cubic inches. Its called a supercharger.

This short term project just had a engine change so u might want to check in with these finance people again.

Lastly, if anything is going to catch the eye of a mechanic doing warranty work, it will be ur catch cup.. while I will say that I did the same on my mustang, it certainly stands out more than a tune I can change back to stock in 20 seconds.

I’m glad there is a V6, it bumped up the resale and value of my V8. Lets see if yours can sell for almost the same price 4 years later.

Bottom line, I again say, they are both badass trucks and id have either in my driveway. I chose the V8 cuz my standards are too high to drive a badass looking truck that sounds like a clapped out dodge neon at a drifting contest.

Colbymh- what ever you do never bring your car or truck to a Southern Nevada Ford Dealership as they will void your warranty for placing a sticker on the car. They are the worst customer service people I have ever met. You need to send some of your Oregon Ford Folks down here to retrain our people. Here they sell performance but blame us for using it. Doesn't make sense.

Cam- I know it hurts but our Trucks do sound like a human colon expressing a constipated mid range purr.Super Fart Can. LMAO it is what it is. Still love the power!
