Even before I bought my new Raptor, I have been in the market for a toy hauler for weekend trips with my motorcycles (Gold Wing & a BMW R1200GS).
My truck has the 6.2L engine... and the sticker says I have the 7000# towing package.
I have been looking at a very light weight 30-foot trailer. The weight numbers are as follows:
Dry Weight: 5080 lbs
Axle Weight: 4245 lbs
Hitch Weight: 835 lbs
GVWR: 7835 lbs
Ok, so I'm thinking that, so long as I don't load it all the way up... by the numbers I should be fine, right?
My 2 bikes together weigh about 1400 lbs wet... so just putting them in the trailer makes puts me up to 6500 lbs, which wouldn't leave me much room for anything else. But with some good pre-planning, I could make it work.
The trick I'm wondering about is hauling a 30-foot trailer with a a 133-inch wheelbase truck. Of course, I'd be using a weight distribution hitch with the rig & and a sway control box... but I'm looking for opinions from those with more expereince.
Thanks...
