Went to the dealer today, the damage is about $6000 in parts! The only thing that survived was the right axle. The dif, brakes, left axle, housing, its all scrap! The dif has the other part of the axle stuck inside of it. Still waiting on ford to give a price on a whole rear assembly so it can be sent down. So if your going to break an axle do it while the warranty is still valid!

Got a call from ford this morning. After 8 days of sitting at the dealer, they finally found the price of the rear end! They ordered it but don't know how long it will take. He said all of Fords management is aware of the problem and put an emergency rush on it!

The sounds like good news. At least you will have all the latest parts and hopefully it won't happen again. It sounds like the dealer is trying hard to take care of it for you. Keep us posted on the progress.

How did this happen? Is this a known problem with raptor?

Ya this dealer in bolivar is amazing, no other word for it. I went back a few days ago and the loaner they had was like a 1976 f150 or a green town car, so they felt bad me bringing in a raptor and giving me that so they gave me a 2006 five hundred right off the lot. No papers to sign, nothing.

It broke when i was in a power slide in the sand. Ford had such a problem with my truck trying to get the parts that the guy who designed the rear end of the raptor came down to look and said that it shouldn't happen and my axle was flawed. So everything is replaced from the driveshaft back, so brakes, axles, housing, diff, wiring, everything.

wow, glad they are taking good care of you. That would be one serious bill! I wonder if this has anything to do with the "quality control" hold up on the '11s.

Ford called again. The assembly is located and should arrive on the 1st. Then its a one day thing to put it on. Not as soon as i was wanting but not too bad.

That sounds great. I doubt any of the other truck manufactures would send the guy that designed the part to come look at it. Just a another reason I'm glad I bought a Ford.

It was all replaced and put on yesterday. Brand new whole rear end. Axle, brakes, casing, everything. Now my problem is my shock. The right rear blew out at the park too i guess, but because my rock guard was cracked and has a chunk missing, the service manager is blaming it on me! He claims that whatever broke the guard must have hit the shock and broken it. The guard was broken back in June and the shock just now broke... so... he called ford saying it was my fault and isn't covered. Well we called ford and explained what REALLY happened. They understood and it should be covered but because the service manager said it would be my fault, its up to him. So we will be having a nice talk with him tomorrow morning.

Tell him that you have nothing to do all day every day but call people and complain about his (lack of) service. The GF got GM to buy back her busted Chevy a few years ago. They will take care of it if you make enough noise. At some point the amount of pain you cause is greater than the price of the shock (which the dealer doesn't even have to pay for).

Wow...one day of fun and a month of downtime. That is not a good record. I don't see how a rock could break a shock. I would think that when the truck hit the rut, the rear end shifted and placed stress on the shock. At least you'll have a new rear end.

Well 40 days after it was dropped at the dealer, its finally done! Ticket was $7300 and it cost me $0. New rear axles, new housing, new diff, new brakes in rear, new calipers, new rear shock, and new rock guards.

I know it took a while but at least it is done. Just in time for Christmas and snow. I guess you can say that was a good Christmas present.
