My dealer says its $160 - does that sound right to you?
$160 for the KEY?? NO, I think the price should be like $100-110 or so at MSRP (I got mine at cost but I dont remember how much it was, I think like 65-75 maybe?)
If you have both your old keys, then you can do it yourself as you pointed out with the page from the manual. It would cost you about $160 to get a new key and have it programmed IF and ONLY IF you only have ONE key, as your other post to the instructions pointed out. They wont be in stock at any dealer yet, but they should sell it to you for far less than that.
Literally to program the key part, you open your door and get it with the door still open. Put in your first old key, turn to ignition then back to off. Take it out, put in your second old key, repeat. Then you put in the new key, repeat, and then after you take it out it is programmed. I had to do mine a few times to get it to take the code, not sure why, but it did (think it may depend on how long you leave the old keys in the ignition position).
THEN, test it and start the truck, once thats done, you need to program the remote part. (NOTE - You have to have ALL the remotes you want to use with you at the same time, or else only the ones you have with you will be programmed and the others wont work any more)
So, get both your old remotes and your new key/remote. Unlock the truck, open the drivers door and leave it open, then take one of your old programmed keys and put it in the ignition and turn it from OFF to full-on (ignition) and back to off 8 TIMES quickly, like it sounds like clack-clack-clak : clack-clack-clack : etc 8 times in a row. After the eight time leave it in the ignition position, and all the lock will lock and unlock to confirm youre in programming mode.
All you have to do is then press a button on remote 1, locks will go again to confirm, then repeat for every other remote.
When youre done take the key out and thats it!
