If you want 411hp you need 93, if you run 87 it is about 10hp less. But will it run stronger (advanced timing) on 93?
Thanks - good to know. This means the engine was optimized for premium fuel, but will adjust for lower grades. If you want 411hp you need 93, if you run 87 it is about 10hp less.
I don't think this is true. Maybe Mark can give a definitive answer, but as far as I know, the 411 rating was on 87 octane. The 10hp gain on 5.4 ratings is due to running E85, which the Raptor 6.2 isn't capable of. The Superduty 6.2 is advertised at 385 hp, with no variance if you're running E85 or regular unleaded. I think the Raptor and Superduty 6.2's are certified running on 87 octane, therefor a true 411hp on regular. If you want 411hp you need 93, if you run 87 it is about 10hp less.
It doesn't ajust for anything. Thanks - good to know. This means the engine was optimized for premium fuel, but will adjust for lower grades.
And we were using 87-octane regular unleaded fuel, not the pricey premium fuel that's needed to get peak power in other competing large-displacement V-8s.
 Amen!...and pass the gravy! Well stated Bro!It doesn't ajust for anything.
Less energy from the fuel results in less power, simple physics.
All these people talking about GM products should understand that GM is no better than Mafia Street, they took bailout money because they bankrupted their companies via questionable practices and then used our grandkids tax dollars to steal more money.
Not one balied out company should even exist and may not in the future. GM used one pool of bailout money to pay back another pool.
Buy a truck from a company that didn't take bailout money and that is putting Americans back to work and quit worrying about two MPG.
Oh and I own a 2004 Corvette I bought new, but sadly will likely never buy another because of the bailouts.
