couple things, great article on a great truck.

1, shift issues fixed? maybe a program fix for the 5.4?
2, regular fuel not required? is the 411hp with reg or premium? ford does that on other motors. usually only a couple horse difference.

Interesting comparison of the Raptor and the Porsche GT3.
They are both limited production. Both hard to get. Both designed from a racing platform.

I have my GT3.
I still dont have my Raptor 6.2L

HOWEVER
When you order a GT3, the dealer calls OFTEN with updates on the production, shipping and delivery. Could even go visit the factory and watch the actual car being built.
With FORD, my dealer can't tell me a FREAKING thing about my truck. I can't even get a VIN number from the dealer.
OK, one is $140,000 and the other is only $49,000 BUT, a little customer service would still be nice.

If you want 411hp you need 93, if you run 87 it is about 10hp less.
I don't think this is true. Maybe Mark can give a definitive answer, but as far as I know, the 411 rating was on 87 octane. The 10hp gain on 5.4 ratings is due to running E85, which the Raptor 6.2 isn't capable of. The Superduty 6.2 is advertised at 385 hp, with no variance if you're running E85 or regular unleaded. I think the Raptor and Superduty 6.2's are certified running on 87 octane, therefor a true 411hp on regular.

Thanks - good to know. This means the engine was optimized for premium fuel, but will adjust for lower grades.
It doesn't ajust for anything.
Less energy from the fuel results in less power, simple physics.

All these people talking about GM products should understand that GM is no better than Mafia Street, they took bailout money because they bankrupted their companies via questionable practices and then used our grandkids tax dollars to steal more money.
Not one balied out company should even exist and may not in the future. GM used one pool of bailout money to pay back another pool.
Buy a truck from a company that didn't take bailout money and that is putting Americans back to work and quit worrying about two MPG.

Oh and I own a 2004 Corvette I bought new, but sadly will likely never buy another because of the bailouts.

If you pick up the newest issue of Motor Trend (June 2010) on the rack, you will find that there is a companion article, but this one is about the upcoming 2011 Raptor SuperCrew. Some great info, including a tease about "...a slightly revised dash with a cool new feature I can't tell you about yet because it's part of the F150's 2011 model-year tweeks." THIS is the Raptor that will suit my needs best, both at the ranch, and at Padre Island National Seashore. I can't wait to get it on the way!

I am waiting to see if Ford changes anything to stop the supercrew from looking akward meaning it will be out of proportion when they add a foot in the cab. It will be wide in the fenders and long and skinney in the middle. Maybe they can put some body modling on it or something to make in blend better.

As far as the dash goes the only cool feature that I would be worried about missing out on is a button that gives the truck extra HP.

Yeah I just saw the June Motor Trend issue with them helping test the Raptor SuperCrew and it was a good read. I just wish they would of given a better time frame for release then saying several months. I know they said 2011 but will that be fall of 2010 or spring 2011? Oh well guess I'll just have to wait and see.

Production is not supposed to begin on 2011 until December. There is a PDF floating around here that gives the dates. July, they announce the changes for 2011. Mid-September, the order banks open. As for the secret dash thing, I'd put money on the fact that its an LCD between the gauges like the 2011 Superduties.

I had the pitch and roll stuff on my Touareg. Its a neat feature but I didnt really find myself looking at it all that much. When I drove off road I was trying to miss more obstacles than I was trying to see what angle or pitch the darn this was at. I've had several cars w/ the LCD screen on the dash too. I didnt use 1/4 of the info on a regular basis. It was neat, but not really utilitarian. :hah:Yeah, I used the word "utilitarian", what of it?
