I'm a long time lurker around this forum and I have a question for the guys who are lucky enough to have both the Raptor and a Shelby GT500. My question is, if you had to choose between just one of these two...which would you go with and why?

I'll be looking to get a new vehicle...and these two are at the top of my list. Really leaning toward the raptor (especially after test driving a 6.2 yesterday). But I've always been a mustang guy (had a built 89). Help me out here guys and girls.

why choose

why choose? just get both. the dealer i am trying to get a 2011 raptor from has a red GT500 in the showroom. It is a bad (as is good) looking car, although, the wheels are a rip off of my old BMW M3 comp wheels (they do look sweet though!).

Well I raced a Shelby yesterday and i was winning till he hit 3rd gear lol. If you can only pick one choose the raptor. It has way more flexibility than a mustang you can seat 5 comfortably AND have 5 times the gear in the box. Also the raptor is fun to drive on and off road. The Shelby not so much..... Lol. Also I don't know where you live but here in Canada we get some seriously gnarly potholes and construction bullish!t it's fun watching everyone slow down while I drive right over and it feels like I hit a popcan :) also the Shelby is in a world of fast cars what can you compare a raptor too?

Get a raptor! I sold my Lexus ISF and my built 4runner to get only the raptor. It is like getting a taste of both..... but the 170mph limited F was a blast and the raptor is only 100mph which is BS. Just had to throw that out there

I think it also depends on what else you drive. I could easily have just the Raptor but I don't think I could live with just a car.
Right now I have a lifted Toyota Tacoma. If I get the Raptor the Tacoma will get sold...if I got the Shelby I'd more than likely keep the Tacoma as a DD and for snow and all that. But then I kinda want to get rid of the Tacoma anyways.

My wife already has an 04 FX4 Screw but she's looking to get a new F150-Platinum as well. So if I got the Shelby, we'd still have the Platinum for snow duty and any of our hauling needs (We would never be able to live without a pickup).

Right now I'm looking at the Raptor as the best of both worlds....a 4x4 truck and a sport vehicle with it's suspension upgrades and a good high HP engine.

"Sorry Hun, no platinum for you, instead I got you a raptor super crew. Oh, and they gave me a great deal on this gt500."

Wow that sounds like a great idea. I have always been a mustang guy too. I really wanted a new mustang but needed a truck so i got a Raptor as my compromise. I plan to either get a GT500 or a new Boss next year.

I have a GT500 and just ordered a Raptor. I love the Shelby but not a daily driver that's why I'm getting the Raptor. Living in North East Ohio it's a must. I actually thought about selling the Shelby, but my grand kids (I'm not that old) both girls and boys are lining up for their 16th Birthday, they want the Shelby.

Sold my Roush 427R and my Nissan Frontier for the Raptor. I loved the Roush, but it pretty much sat in the garage all the time. Those cars are like catch 22's. You want to drive them all the time, but then again, you don't want to rack up the miles on 'em. After 2 weeks of Raptor ownership, I haven't missed the Roush yet.

I traded my '09 Shelby GT500 for my Raptor. I had the Shelby for a year & a half and only put 932 miles on it over that span. The only time I slow down work-wise is in the winter -- and the Shelby wasn't a good snow & cold weather driver here in northwest Wyoming! Lost $116 from what I originally paid for the Shelby, when I traded it in, so I didn't get hurt there at all.

That said, the Shelby was one fast beater! I'll just get more use out of the Raptor, even though it'll just be a "pleasure" vehicle. My daily driver is a '10 F350 FX4 diesel -- an awesome rig in it's own right!

Hi-Well I have both . 2010 GT500 Grabber Blue and 6.2 Molten Orange Raptor I got 3 months ago. I drive the Raptor daily for most things (including back & forth to work). 6.2 is nice, and nicer yet with the tune from 5-Star Performance/ Only way to go over the 5.4 weezer motor ! The Shelby is the neat car to drive after the day is done / I also have the box set of : '70 Boss 429 Grabber Blue, '70 Boss 302 Grabber Blue, '71 Boss 351 Grabber blue , '69 Mach 1 428 cj Silver Jade/ Hard to figure what to drive ; depends on my mood I guess?

I have to have a truck for work. Not that I do much hauling but sometimes I need use of the bed or I need to carry 5 people comfortably. I sold my 2006 SCrew back in February and had to make do with my my old Bronco and a couple of Mustangs until the Raptor arrived in finally in May.

I've had a blown Mustang GT for 3 years now. Although its not a 'Shelby' its everybit as fast and unfortunately with all the mods cost me every bit as much, but its unique and its mine. It was the first 'second' car I ever had. I've never had more than a truck. I've never owned a car. I should say I've owned them, but they were always used by the wife. I use the Mustang for Fridays, or for good weather, or for going out with the wife and stuff like that. Occasionally I'll take it on a trip or something. 12,000 miles in 3 years. I would not be able to choose between the Raptor and the Mustang though.

Like I said I have to have the truck, and what better truck to have than a Raptor. The Mustang is my toy though. It gets the new wheels, bigger brakes, supercharger, headers, all the things I've put on myself to make it unique and my own. As a matter of fact I love the Mustang so much I bought two more. A '91 LX 5.0 I wanted in high school but could not afford, and a 2000 Cobra R, my personal favorite Mustang since the '69 and '70 models.
