TSB # for Harsh bump feeling in tranny

Had this done and then added hypertech max energy. WOW!!!!! What a difference. Get to know your service advisor, get them a christmas present, remember their B-day's. It will make a difference in your Truck's life.
My service adv. takes care of my Raptor like it was his own.
Anyway; here is the reason you are reading this.................
TSB # 09-11-05 RECAL PCM AND TCM AND CLEAR KAM AND TEST DRIVE AND RESET TRANS ADAPTIVE STRATEGIES:4-jump2:

Someone ask about the 6.2
My 6.2 has a 1 maybe 2 second delay off the line and same 1 to 2 second delay when down shifting still only 502 miles on it.
It is a bit of a garage qween until i get all the rust protection and undercoating done along with 3m clear film on the front at least.
what did you do for undercoating? did you have it professionally done and if so, where did you have it done and how much did it cost you if you don't mind me asking?

This TSB is for vehicles built on or before 2/1/2010 and equipped with 5.4L 3V. Unless your truck was built on or before 2/1/2010, your good....
"If it aint broke, dont fix it"

how do you find out your built day? i'm considering taking it in but not sure what everyone saying about the harsh downshift. i'm having a problem with my truck shifting from 2nd to 3rd going less than 40 mph. total oppsite. This just starting to happen last month or so. I drive back roads, 'city driving' i'm hardly ever on the highways.

Hoping someone can help me understand this...I have taken in my Raptor 5.4 to two different dealers here in Dallas and they pulled up the VIN through Oasis and neither have found this TSB in the system for my truck and it shows to have been built 11/20/09?

I don't think I have all the same symptoms that others have noted here, but when I floor it (to get on the highway or whatever) the rpms go to over 5K and it doesn't seem to downshift much to give it the power it needs to the wheels. I have also noticed the intermittent neutral bump feel when braking, but I don't hear any "clunk" and the hesitation that others note is minimal and it doesn't have the harsh downshift that others note either (as noted above, it doesn't seem to downshift much at all).

What has to be done to let the dealer look up that TSB, they say it doesn't apply to Raptor (when I clearly see from here that others with Raptors have had it done)?

Help is appreciated.

thx

If you don't have the symptoms I wouldn't worry about it. "If it isn't broke, don't fix it" Even if they could find it, they still have to verify that you are having issues. They won't fix it if they can't re-create the issue.

Same here... I haven't give to the dealership yet, but I see this as being a problem. EXACTLY what do I need to tell them to do? Also, can I do the same thing if I install a programmer?
Just give them the TSP number and tell them what your symptoms are.

I've had the symptoms since way back, and they told me they checked the trans. and it was fine...all BS, and about all they'll do unless prodded and given exact instructions...I've had trouble with this dealership before...same old song and dance. The first time it happened to me, I was sitting at a red-light and I thought someone had tapped me from behind. Several times while doing 60?, gagged it and after downshifting 2 gears, seemed like it slipped with the engine red-lining and the truck decelerating fast...like it went into neutral. Seems like I lose rear traction like after coming over a large bump...not because the wheels aren't on the ground, but when I land, it's either slipped, or in WAY too high gear to be of any use...like it's stalled.

Well, the main symptom that is bugging me is the bump that I get occasionally when slowing down to a stop...seems to want to lunge and you can definately feel it in the brake pedal and SOP.

Will take it to a new dealership and see what they say...also have a bad break squeek that occurs intermittently too.

Maybe I can get a break and have both issues bare witness to the dealer service guys.

I'm in the Dallas area also. What dealers have you tried?

I have only taken it to Five Star Ford in Plano, do you have a good suggestion on where to take it? I was considering either North Central Ford or Five Star Ford in Carrollton.

I have noticed that the "bump" is especially noticable when the tranny is warm and moving short amounts at a time as in sitting in rush hour. Very annoying.

I have the clunk too... occasionally. I've just been tagging along the threads reading about it and compiling data to present it to my dealer. Had it in before for this issue and there was a TSB or something telling them to add those little BB jibbers to the tranny (im not a motorhead, so I dont know tech names). Im sure they reprogrammed the trans and I didnt notice it for a little while, but occasionally it comes back

I have the wretched break squeal too!!!!! Rather embarrassing, to say the least!

Took mine in at 0800 this morning for the recall repair, alignment and this TSB. I called at 1600 and they said there isn't a TSB; that they ran a diagnostic and that a clogged injector has caused this...cleared it out. I'm headed down there with this TSB info and a bad look...and yes, I've had the symptoms since early on.

When I got there, the guy said well, did you find that thing you were talking about?...I handed him the TSB from HMan; he looked at it a minute and said that must have just come out...I said NO,other people have had this done about 9 months ago...he then handed it over to the only guy there that knows how to read and said think you can do anything with this? Guy #2 says, yeah probably...but the computer went down due to a storm last night; I rebooted this morning, but it's not completely up to date...I'll have to do that Monday...so bring it in probably Tues. I live a mile from the dealership, and there was NO storm last night...all this means it's just too close to 5pm on Friday, and I'm not going to bother with it. I feel like I'm dealing with dumb and dumber!

just make sure your truck was built before february 2010, if it was then the TSB will come up against the VIN # at any dealer, if your truck was built after this date then they will tell you theres no issue and no TSB, alternativly you can buy a tune and that will also solve the problem, from the likes of 5 STAR.
the tsb takes approx 45 mins to do then the tech needs to dive for about 30 mins, then the truck will start to Re-learn from your driving patterns and reset the tranny

cheers
