The soft rubber boot between the throttle body and the intake tube ripped open today and the truck started sucking air right in the throttle body. Had the trucked towed home (sketchy on the tow truck because of the width) Called AFE and the said they would send me a new one that would be here monday( they had excellent customer service and sent me the parts free of charge), so my truck is sitting in the driveway all weekend.
Im sure everyones first reaction is that I had the hose clamps way over tightened but I was very careful not to. I only used a screwdriver to tighten the stuff up. The problem is the soft rubber boot has metal clamps holding it together and when the stuff gets hot the rubber gets really soft. Not to mention the intake tube is only supported by one little bracket! This is an offroad truck, everything needs to be properly mounted! So combined the sharp sided metal hose clamps with the soft rubber boot, add a lot of heat and jarring and how can it not rip?
Long story short, im gonna go back to stock. The tiny power increase is not worth the drama
